How to convert Word to PDF

4 min read

Sending a CV or a contract as a Word file invites two problems: it renders differently on other machines, and anyone can change it. Exporting to PDF solves both.

Convert in three steps

  1. Open the Word to PDF tool and add your .docx file.
  2. Press Convert now and wait for the conversion to finish.
  3. Download the PDF and open it to check the layout.

What converts reliably

Paragraph text, headings and simple structure convert dependably. Documents that lean heavily on floating shapes, multi-column layouts, embedded charts or unusual licensed fonts may render differently from the Word preview, so always review the output rather than forwarding it unseen.

Fix the source, not the PDF

If the PDF looks wrong, editing the PDF is the hard path. Adjust the Word document — simplify the layout, use standard fonts, replace text boxes with normal paragraphs — and convert again.

Older .doc files

Only the modern .docx format is supported. Open a legacy .doc in any word processor and save it as .docx first.

Frequently asked questions

Is the converter free?

Yes, with no account required and no watermark on the output.

Is my document uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so the document stays on your device.

Can I convert a PDF back to Word?

Not yet — that requires server-side processing and is not among the currently available tools.

Export to PDF for anything you send outward, keep the DOCX as your editable master, and check the first page of every conversion before it leaves your machine.
