Tips for the best result
- Start from the highest-quality original you have; converting an already-compressed file twice loses detail.
- If you need transparency, keep the output in PNG or WebP — JPG cannot store an alpha channel.
- When resizing for the web, set the width you actually display at rather than shrinking a huge image in CSS.
- Compress last, after cropping and resizing, so you are not re-encoding the same pixels repeatedly.
Frequently asked questions
Will converting to PNG improve the quality?
No. Compression artefacts already present in the JPG stay in the image; PNG simply stops new ones being added.
Why is my PNG larger than the JPG?
PNG stores every pixel losslessly, which for photographs is far less efficient than JPG's lossy compression.
Can I convert several images at once?

Are my images uploaded?
